How much are the 2024  fees for Football

  • Tackle - $400            Cheer - $300

Why is Pop Warner So Expensive?

Compared to most recreational sports there is significantly more participation time and equipment provided to the participant in Pop Warner. Tackle football athletes are supervised in Pasadena Pop Warner for almost 700 hours of practice and game time during a regular season. Your registration fees contribute to the following costs: fees for use of the schools, fields, and parks for practices and games, game day custodians, referees, field lights, uniforms, Southern California Conference fees, game day onsite EMTs, picture package, insurance, equipment reconditioning, and new equipment purchases. Every coach and board member in Pasadena PW is a volunteer and without our additional fundraising efforts, we would lose money on each participant who signs up for PPW.

Is there a refund policy?

Registration cancellations after July 15th, will NOT receive any refund.

What are the academic requirements for participation?

Pop Warner Little Scholars, Inc. (PWLS) is the only national youth sports organization in America that requires its participants to perform adequately in the classroom before permitting them to play. We believe that the standards we have set give these children a sense of responsibility and an appreciation for academics and athletics that will help them develop later on in life.

Proof of satisfactory progress in school is required. A 2.0/70% or the equivalent shall be the minimum grade point average acceptable to participate. Those who do not meet this requirement, or home-schooled students can still play if they follow the alternative eligibility process which is monitored by progress reports.

How long is the season?

The regular season schedule is usually between seven and nine games, between late August and late October. Regional Playoffs for 8U through 14U divisions are played on the 1st weekend in November with the Finals played on the 3rd weekend. The winner of the finals may have an opportunity to play in the Pop Warner Super Bowl in Florida in early December.

When and where are practices held?

  • Practice officially begins on August 1st

  • During August, teams practice 5 days a week (M-F) 2 hours per day to meet their safety and conditioning requirements

  • Beginning in September, teams will practice 3 days a week (T, Th,& F) throughout the remainder of the season.

  • All Practices will be held at Victory Park on the lower field from 6pm -8pm

When and where are the games played?

  • Home football games are held at Pasadena High school football stadium.  There are typically 3-5 home games a season for our tackle teams.

  • Away football games can be as far south as Palos Verdes, as far north as Lancaster, and as far west as Ventura. Families should be prepared to travel to away games on certain Saturdays. Please visit the Southern California Conference website for more info on the field locations of the other associations we compete against.

  • A tentative game schedule is prepared by Southern California Conference and provided to us in mid-August with league game times & locations

  • SCC has the authority to alter a game schedule at any given time due to unforeseen circumstances. Please be patient and understanding with your coaches and team managers when SCC makes changes to your schedule (sometimes at the last minute) when emergencies arise

How do I volunteer to be a coach/administrator:

Volunteers are the most important part of Pop Warner Little Scholars, Inc., and our nearly 1 million volunteers have continued to drive our organization for over 79 years! First off, to volunteer for your local organization please use the national League Finder to find your program and contact them about helping out.

Pop Warner programs nationwide are required to annually conduct a background check of Coaches, Board of Directors members and any other persons, volunteers or hired workers, who provide regular service to the league and/or have repetitive access to, or contact with, players and/or spirit participants. The purpose of these background checks is, first and foremost, to protect the children. To learn more, visit the Background Check page.
